At The Women’s Gallery by Julie Ahmad, we exist to amplify women in the arts.

Our gallery was born from a hard truth: the art world still doesn’t reflect the talent, training, or creative force of women. While women earn 70% of Fine Art degrees, they make up just 13.7% of living artists represented by museums and galleries across Europe and North America (source: National Museum of Women in the Arts). The numbers are so dismal, they’re often met with disbelief.

We’re here to change that.

Through curated exhibitions, artist representation, and business education, we invest in women and female-identifying artists—helping them grow their careers and gain visibility in Austin and beyond. Every show, sale, and story we share is part of a larger mission: to shift the stats, disrupt the norm, and ensure women artists are not just seen—but celebrated.

Our Story

What began in 2013 with one woman—pregnant, hormonal, and creatively on fire—has grown into a movement to amplify women in the arts.

Julie Ahmad found her artistic voice during pregnancy, drawn to the freedom of abstract painting and the intuitive connection between creation and self-expression. Her work explores intersectional feminism, symbolism, and social awareness, shaped by her years in New York City’s fashion industry.

Over the years, Julie’s career has expanded with national exhibitions, magazine covers, and features on platforms like the Magnolia Network and The American Dream. In 2019, she transformed her studio into a gallery—and by 2023, officially rebranded it as a space exclusively representing women artists.

Now known as The Women’s Gallery, the space has become a creative hub in Austin, hosting art shows, curated happy hours, and intentional community gatherings.

Notable milestones:
– Empower (Sept 2023), our first group show
– A national TV feature on The American Dream (Feb 2024)
– From Muse to Masters (Apr 2024), our largest show to date
– The inaugural Women’s Gallery Art Awards (Dec 2024)
– Welcoming our first apprentice, Quinn (Aug 2024)

Julie’s mantra—“We are stronger together”—remains the foundation of everything we do.
On September 13th, 2025, we officially relaunch as The Women’s Gallery in our expanded South Lamar space. More room. More artists. More momentum. And we’re just getting started.
