The Rise of HER | What Our Daughters See

“Our daughters don’t learn from what we tell them. They learn from what we choose to do.”

From the moment doors opened, the room felt easy. Guests arrived with intention, moved thoughtfully through the work, and stayed in conversation longer than expected. It never felt rushed. It felt like community.
And somewhere within it all, my daughter, Aaliyah, 12, was in the room, watching her mom show up fully in a room she created.
She’s grown up around the edges of this world, studio tours, quick visits, glimpses in passing. This was the first time she saw it in motion. A gallery filled with artists, 120 guests, the hum of check-in, the clink of glasses, the room alive with women showing up for themselves and for each other.
These nights feel effortless, but that’s by design. I held the vision and brought it to life, leading, directing, and shaping the room from start to finish.
And she didn’t just see the room, she saw behind it. The coordination before doors opened. Me leading, giving direction, gathering the team. Holding the meeting, setting the tone. She watched me step forward, give the speech, and introduce each artist so they could have their moment to shine.
"Our daughters don’t learn power from what we tell them. They learn it from what we’re willing to claim for ourselves. From watching us take up space. From seeing us build something that didn’t exist before we decided it should." - Ahmad
And the truth is, beneath all of it, my why is simple.
I just want her to be proud of me.
Not because everything is perfect, but because I showed up. Because I built something that mattered.
Take a look at some of our favorite photos from the night below. Each one captures the crazy energy, beautiful people, and unforgettable memories that will stay with us long after the party lights faded.
